King of the Hill Handicapping Contest

The King of the Hill Handicapping contest continues every Wednesday and Thursday in January at Sports Haven and Bradley Teletheater. It¹s FREE to play. Make your selections in the first nine races at Aqueduct. In the first three races (1,2,3), your horse must finish anywhere in the top four spots. In races 4,5, and 6, your horse must finish first, second or third.  In the next two races (7,8) your horse must finish first or second and in the last race (9), your horse must win the race. Prize money will be $200 on Wednesday and $100  on Thursday. If no one wins, the money rolls over to the next contest day. 


  1. Contestants will make their selections on the races from NYRA. The contest will be held Wednesdays and Thursdays on the following dates: October 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28; November 3,
  2. 4, 10,11,17,18, at the Bradley Teletheater and Sports Haven.  In the event that no one wins November 18, the contest will continue on the following Wednesdays and Thursdays (except Nov.25) until someone wins. No new money will be added after November 18th. 
  3. The entries from Sports Haven and Bradley will be combined so that there is only one prize. For example, if 100 people enter at Sports Haven and 75 people enter from Bradley, then there are a total of 175 contestants all playing for one prize pool. The contest is open only to patrons at Sports Haven and Bradley.     
  4. In the first three races (Races 1, 2 and 3) contestant's selections must finish in any of the top four places. In the next three races (Races 4, 5 and 6), contestant’s selections must finish in any of the top three places. In the next two races (Races 7 and 8), contestant’s selections must finish either first or second. In the last race (Race 9), contestant must select the winner. The contestant who accomplishes all of the above, wins the contest.
  5. Prize money is $200 on Wednesdays. On Thursdays, the prize money added will be $100. In the event that no one wins, the money will roll over into the next contest day. For example, if no one wins on Wednesday, the total prize money for Thursday will be $300.  Prize money will continue to roll over until there is a winner.
  6. The winner, or winners in the case of a tie, will be paid with a voucher, which may be cashed at any Autotote/ Connecticut OTB location. Vouchers may be picked up at customer service at Sports Haven and the program stand at Bradley Teletheater. Any winnings over $600 will be paid by check and will be mailed.
  7. In the event of a tie at the end of a contest day, the prize money will be equally divided. 
  8. Contestants need not be present to win.
  9. All contest winnings must be collected by December 30, 2004 or they will be forfeited. Winners must pick up their winnings in person and present valid identification.
  10. There is no entry fee to participate.
  11. One entry per person per contest day. 
  12. If a selection is scratched, the entrant will get the post time favorite. If a person selects an entry and one-half of the entry is scratched, he will get the other half of the entry as long as the entrant is a pari-mutuel interest and not running for purse money only.
  13. Entries and fields go as a single betting interest.
  14. The decision of the judges in all matters related to the contest is final.
  15. Winners are subject to all state and federal tax requirements.
  16. The receipt of a registration form signifies the entrant’s acceptance of all rules and     conditions stated herein.
  17. An entry constitutes acceptance of and responsibility for adherence to all of the rules and conditions of the contest as stated herein.
  18. All contestants must be at least 18 years of age.
  19. All participants agree to have their name or image appear in any publicity material (posters, newsletters, programs, etc) and to be printed in any publication without compensation.
  20. Officers and employees and their immediate families, of Autotote Enterprises and the Division of Special Revenue, State of Connecticut, are not eligible to enter the contest.
  21. The right is reserved to terminate, modify or withdraw this contest at any time without prior notice.
