Cain’s Ride to the Derby Rules
1) No purchase necessary.
2) All entrants must be 18-years of age to enter.
3) Manchester Journal-Inquirer sports writer
Sherman Cain will select the horse he thinks will win the Triple Crown
Prep race. If Cain is correct, $100 will be donated to the Manchester
Police Athletic League. Cain’s picks will appear in the Friday and
Saturday editions of the Manchester Journal-Inquirer.
4) Contest
participants at the Hartford Raceview Center and the Bradley Teletheater
will select the horse they think will finish first in the feature race.
Entries may be deposited the day before the feature race (Friday) and
the day of the feature race. The feature races will be the March 13 –
Florida Derby; March 20 - Lane’s End Derby; March 27- Private Terms;
April 3 –Santa Anita Derby; April 10 – Wood Memorial; April 17-
Lexington Stakes; April 24 – Derby Trial; May 1 – Kentucky Derby; May
15- Preakness; June 5- Belmont Stakes
5) Entrants at the Hartford RaceView Center and
Bradley Teletheater who correctly select the winner of the race will
have 500 Trophy Club points deposited into their account. In order to
collect the prize, people must have a Trophy Club account. If they do
not have an account, one will be opened for them.
6) All entries with the correct winner of the
race will be entered for the final grand prize drawing to be held after
the running of the Belmont Stakes. One name will be pulled. The winner
will receive 125,000 Trophy Club points. The winner need not be present
to win.
6) Entries must be in no later than 4:00 PM each
contest day and by 3 PM on the day of the Belmont Stakes.
7) In the event of a scratch, the entries
selecting the scratched horse will get the post time favorite.
8) Entries and fields go as a single betting
interest.
9) Winners will have the Trophy Club points
automatically credited to their account.
10) One entry per
person each contest day.
11) The decision of the judges in all matters
related to the contest is final.
12) Winners are subject to all state and federal
tax requirements.
13) The receipt of a registration form signifies
the entrant’s acceptance of all rules and conditions stated herein.
14) All participants agree to have their name,
statement or image appear in any publicity material (posters,
newsletters, programs, etc) and /or participating newspapers in
conjunction with this contest without further compensation.
15) Officers and employees and their immediate
families of Autotote Corporation and its agencies and affiliates, the
Manchester Journal –Inquirer publications and its agencies and
affiliates and the employees of the Division of Special Revenue, State
of Connecticut, are not eligible to participate in the contest.
16) The right is reserved to terminate, modify or
withdraw this contest at any time without prior notice.
